PURCHASING GUIDE

Fine forceps: checking specifications and inspecting deliveries

Confirm instrument type, tip profile, dimensions, material and pack quantity separately, then use the same option checklist at receiving. A nominal tip size is not a tolerance or accuracy claim.

Identify the exact option, not just the product heading

A product heading is a starting point, not a complete purchase specification. Zhonglong's current ultra-fine forceps page includes straight and curved forceps as well as micro-scissors options. Sharing a page does not make these the same instrument for ordering or receiving.

Give each order line an instrument type, full option name, material, dimensions, quantity per pack and number of packs. Retain the matching option image. Mark missing information as awaiting confirmation rather than copying it from a nearby option.

Describe profile, contact surface and tip size separately

WPI treats tip shape and surface texture as separate design information. Specify straight, curved or angled form separately from serrations or teeth. A curved-tip label is neither a complete specification nor a guarantee of a particular result.

  • Profile: request front and side views; confirm any required angle separately.
  • Platform, serrations or teeth: clarify the location instead of relying on a thumbnail.
  • Fine-tip dimensions: request the measurement location and meaning. Smaller does not automatically mean more suitable.

Turn a size label into a verifiable dimensional requirement

The current catalogue includes nominal 0.1 mm, 0.05 mm and 0.01 mm options. These are catalogue labels, not independent measurements made for this guide. They must not be read as dimensional tolerances, machining accuracy or the smallest object that can be grasped. Ask whether the value describes width, thickness or another feature, and what measurement information is available.

Record overall length separately from tip dimensions, with explicit mm or cm units. If a dimensional tolerance is required, agree on the measurement location, method and receiving criteria before confirming the order. An overview photograph or a photograph beside a ruler cannot independently verify a very small tip dimension.

Do not inherit material or pack quantity from another option

The fine-forceps catalogue includes stainless-steel and titanium-alloy options. A separate thickened 201 stainless-steel forceps product includes labels such as a 10 cm straight option in a pack of 10. These are different products and options: neither material nor pack quantity should be transferred between them.

Confirm units per pack and packs ordered before calculating total pieces. Ask whether tip protectors or a storage case are included. A material name alone does not establish sterile status, a corrosion-resistance grade or processing compatibility. Request instructions for the exact model rather than inferring these attributes from appearance or promotional wording.

Match the receiving record before reviewing condition

WPI lists tip alignment, surface damage, corrosion and spring action among inspection checks. Include these in receiving records, while using the actual model instructions and agreed criteria to determine the appropriate check and acceptance standard.

  • Match instrument type, identification, profile, declared material and quantity to the option checklist.
  • Record packaging and tip-protection condition, and photograph visible bends, nicks or misalignment.
  • Label and set aside questionable items for supplier review. Do not sharpen or bend tips, or test them on specimens, as part of receiving.

Keep a record that another colleague can reorder from

A confirmed record should identify the exact option, the reason for its configuration, verified dimensions, pack quantity and receiving criteria. For a replacement, provide the old model and comparable tip photographs, and request an explicit statement of differences rather than a same-style assurance.

This guide supports research-equipment purchasing and receiving, not tissue-handling procedures. It does not replace approved protocols, model instructions or training. Keep unconfirmed fields blank or marked for clarification instead of filling a specification sheet with estimates.
