PURCHASING GUIDE

Selecting gavage and dosing tools: dimensions, connections and packaging

Review animal compatibility, intended route, tube dimensions, connections and packaging before choosing a gavage or dosing option.

By Zhonglong Bio

Confirm the study plan before the tool

Oral gavage, airway procedures and sampling involve different tools. Tubular appearance does not make them interchangeable. The research team should establish the approved purpose, species and animal size before requesting a model. NC3Rs explores alternatives to gavage in a specific mouse glucose-tolerance setting, not a general authorization to change an existing protocol.

Record length and diameter separately

Instech lists tube size, length, material and other dimensions separately. A size designation is not a complete specification. State whether a required diameter is internal, external or a tip measurement, and include its unit. The cited values describe Instech products, not other Zhonglong models.

Shape and material do not establish full compatibility

For straight, curved, metal or soft-tip options, also confirm connections, relevant liquid requirements, permitted reuse and model instructions. A rat-and-mouse label does not establish suitability for every age, body size or study condition.

Check each packaging attribute

Single-use status, sterile packaging, quantity per pack and included accessories are separate attributes. Verify the actual model and package rather than extending one option's attributes to every SKU. This purchasing guide does not provide dosing amounts, insertion depths or procedural training. Trained personnel must follow the approved protocol.

References and scope

The references explain general selection questions. Their product specifications do not establish the specifications, certification or performance of Zhonglong products. Confirm the actual model. This guide is not an operating protocol or a substitute for approved training.
